Focus and Scope
The International Journal of Family Business Practices (IJFBP) is open access and biannual double-blind peer-reviewed journal. Numerous family enterprises are based around the legend of an entrepreneurial founder who has stood firm in the face of difficulties. The IJFBP widens the scope to look beyond this interrelationship by exploring the creation of family business, which includes the entrepreneurial tenets, mindset, and processes of the family business and its transgenerational sustainability. The scope of the journal covers various sectors, including (but not limited to) retail, tourism, wealth planning, and digital business, among others.

Peer Review Process
The Manuscripts submitted to IJFBP shall be selected and assessed by the Board of
Editors in order to make sure that they comply with the writing guidance, focus and
scope and are of excellent academic quality. Manuscripts will be reviewed using a
double-blind peer review method in which situation neither authors nor reviewers know
the identities of each other.
Desk Review. At the desk review stage, manuscripts will be reviewed to ensure that
they comply with the writing guidance, focus and scope with excellent academic
quality. If the conditions are not met, the author will be given an opportunity to revise
his/her manuscript according to the criteria. There is also a possibility that the
manuscript will be rejected directly.
Peer-review. Once the manuscript has passed the stage of the desk review, it will be
delivered to two reviewers who are experts on the subject of the submitted manuscript.
The review process will take place within three weeks. In case of difference in reviews,
the editorial board sends the paper to the third reviewer, and the two best reviews are
accepted as final. Manuscripts that have not passed the desk review process successfully
will not proceed to this stage.
Reviewer's decision. The reviewers will provide the following recommendations:
- Accepted; means that the article is acceptable for publication
- Accepted with minor revisions; means that the manuscript is acceptable for publication once it has been revised in response to the concerns of the reviewers.
- Accepted major revisions; means that substantial inadequacies in the manuscript, for instance, data analysis, the main theory used and the rewriting of paragraphs, need to be revised.
- Rejected; means that the manuscript is not acceptable for publication or that the reviews concerned relate to very basic issues.
The decision of the reviewer will be considered by the Board of Editors to determine the
subsequent process of the manuscript.
Revision Stage. Once the manuscript has been received with minor or major revisions,
it will be returned to the author with a summary review form. For manuscripts accepted
with major revisions, authors are given three weeks to revise. Whereas for manuscripts
accepted with minor revisions, one week is allocated for revision. When returning the
revised manuscript, the author must fill in and attach the summary form of the review. Â
Final decision. At this point, the manuscript will be re-evaluated by the Board of
Editors to ensure that it has been revised in response to the concerns of the reviewers. In
that final decision, the manuscript may still be rejected if the author has not carried out
the necessary revisions seriously.
Proofread. Once the manuscript has been considered acceptable by the Board of
Editors, it will undergo a process of proofreading in order to maintain linguistic quality.
Publication confirmation. At this stage, the final layout of the manuscript will be sent
back to the author to ensure that the content is consistent with the author's writing. At
this stage, the author may correct any typographical error found in the final manuscript.
After receiving the confirmation from the author, the Editorial Secretary will process
the online publication of the manuscript on the website. For the print publication, the
author may contact the Editorial Secretary for further information.
