Accelerator-Driven Technology for Controlled Environment Agriculture: Case in Digital Transformation of Agri-Tech Startup

Lukas Sangka Pamungkas, Anton Wachidin Widjaja

Abstract

In the era of digital disruption, businesses must accelerate their digital transformation efforts. This transformation can be significantly advanced through the intervention of accelerators. The Siemens Advanced Manufacturing Transformation Centre (AMTC) is a prime example of an organization that facilitates this progression by offering vertical and horizontal integration opportunities. The AMTC provides investment projects with systematic training programs, consulting services, and an Industry 4.0 environment. By engaging with such organizations and leveraging their sandbox environments, businesses can enhance their skills, expertise, and capabilities to embrace digital transformation and foster innovation across their operations. This involvement not only enables firms to develop and patent new technologies but also drives business growth through innovative solutions. Collaborating with startups and digital transformation accelerators, such as Siemens AMTC, helps deepen digital competencies and imparts valuable insights to partnering organizations. For example, Siemens AMTC supports Artisan Green, a startup specializing in hydroponic farming, by providing advanced infrastructure and technology. Siemens AMTC’s technologies regulate and control Artisan Green's farming processes, improving crop quality and productivity. This advanced technology functions as a virtual farmer, allowing for data-driven cultivation and enhanced productivity, thus contributing to Singapore’s sustainability goals. This paper explores the objectives of digital transformation, the process model, the challenges involved, and the phases beyond disruption.
